Dairy Goats
Herd health planning
We have a comprehensive herd health plan that we can make bespoke to your farm, we review this with you annually to ensure your herd is as healthy and productive as it can be. This complies with Red Tractor and milk buyers requirements.
We can also put in place comprehensive vaccination plans for your kids and adults to help you schedule these in at the most appropriate time to provide maximum protection against disease.
Routine health visits and reviews
With multiple kidding session per year, the dairy goat farm is a busy environment. We offer a post-kidding visit where we can review the figures and trouble shoot any issues that may have arisen.
Disbudding
Our vets are all very experienced at performing goat kid disbudding, making it safe and pain free procedure.
Trouble shooting
Even with the best management, problems can still pop up such as high cell counts, disease outbreaks or metabolic issues and we can help. Our experienced team have the knowledge to perform the correct tests and ask the right questions to help you get to the bottom of any issue.
Breeding management
Our Advanced Breeding team have been performing cervical AI in goats for over 8 years and we expect an average of 50% conception rate. We use our own synchronisation program which is tried and tested to get the best results in high yielding dairy goats. We can work with your vet to carry out the synch or we can provide everything you need to synch your goats for AI. We use frozen French semen from proven Saanan and Alpine bucks and we also use proven and unproven Dutch Saanan semen. If you require a different breed as a sire we can source semen for you.
We can offer laparoscopic AI in addition to cervical AI, this technique is preferable for smaller breeds and maidens.
As well as AI we can provide help and advice on your breeding strategy and on practical matters such as out of season breeding.
Disease surveillance and control
There are a number of ‘iceberg diseases’ that goats are susceptible to that may be causing more of an impact on your farm than you know including CAE and Johnes Disease. We can help with testing for endemic diseases and putting a plan in place to manage, reduce or even eradicate them.
